Fortunately, this quest has an extreme number of benefits and very few drawbacks to complete - you can finish it fairly early in the game, and the rewards you will receive from the faction you support are immense. In addition to allowing you to recruit Strider (the Monolith squad leader) to assist you in the Pripyat Underground, you will need to complete this quest in its entirety. Attempting to tell a faction leader that they can be trusted won't help you much if that faction leader doesn't trust you. This mission is not altogether difficult by itself, but gaining enough trust of either Duty or Freedom is, for this quest. They will explain to the player that they are no longer under the psychological brainwashing of the Monolith, and will request help in gaining safe passage back into the life of a Stalker.
